FAQ's

Welcome!  We have dropped in a few FAQ's to help with your stay

  • What is Eco camping.
For us its about leaving the environment as close to nature and as untouched as possible. Therefore, please consider that our campground is still a working farm, and we strive to maintain its natural beauty.. We are by no means a caravan park with all the bells and whistles.

How far are you from town?
From the edge of town we are about 1.8km; from the CBD we are just under 3km. We are lucky to have a walking/bike track that runs into town on the boundary of our property, and you can also catch a courtesy bus into the Golf Club. We are blessed to be so close to town, yet when you’re here you will feel a million miles away.

    Pets:
While we welcome well-behaved pets and their owners, it's essential to keep your dogs on a leash at all times to protect our farm animals. This is a strict rule that will result in you being asked to leave if not followed.

    Water:
Visitors can fill their tanks with town water at the dump point in town, opposite the museum.
Please note that we don't provide water with our stays. Why? Well Cobar, unlike other outback towns in western New South Wales, does not have a river and receives its water supply through a channel 385km away. This allocated water supply isn't available to most farms. So farms have to rely on rain for personal use and for their stock/animals. It seriously is LIQUID GOLD.

    Secluded Sites vs Eco Sites
One of the biggest questions asked. Our eco-sites are located at the main campground and feature an open area to select your site, with access to camp kitchen and facilities for all guests to enjoy. Our secluded sites offer a exclusive guests-only stay in a more private wooded area for those seeking a secluded stay.
No matter which option you choose, you'll find level ground and the freedom to explore the breathtaking beauty of the outback. With no power, our offering is nature, pure and simple.

    Outback
At Meralda you'll experience the true essence of the outback. Yes it’s a dry and dusty neck of the woods, with limited access to water and burrs aplenty. If you're looking for green grass and fancy inclusions, we're not the place for you. However, if you're seeking an authentic outback experience, complete with the magic of campfires, stunning sunsets, and the starry night sky, we invite you to join us.

    Fires:
Is it even camping without sitting by a fire and watching the sunset?
One awesome fact that sets us apart is the ability to have your own fire, or if we are cooking at the main fire you’re welcome to swing by. All can only happen in fire season of course. Wood is available to be purchased on farm, or BYO.

    Off-Grid - What is it?
Simply means our offering is nature. No power... Just you, your set up, and the landscape.

    Classes:
Owner, Jenn offers resin art classes, as well as meditation sessions, and wellbeing services for those looking to experience something extra during their stay.
